How fast should a painter call back a lead?
What the research says
The Harvard Business Review study tested 2,241 US companies with web leads. 37% responded within an hour, 24% took more than 24 hours, and 23% never responded. The average response was 42 hours.
The MIT Lead Response Management study, by the same lead researcher, found the odds of qualifying a lead dropped sharply after the first 5 minutes.
Why it matters even more for painters
Homeowners fill out more than one form, and lead sites send them to several painters at once. The first painter to call usually books the estimate. Every minute you wait is a minute a competitor can call.
How to actually hit 5 minutes
- Have leads text or ring someone the second they arrive.
- Make one person responsible for calls during working hours, so it is not whoever is free.
- Cover evenings and weekends, when many homeowners fill out forms.
- If you are in the field all day, hand calling to a booking team.
Where Paint'd fits
Paint'd sets a 30 second callback target. Real people on our team call every lead, 7 days a week, during and after business hours, and book the estimate on that first call.
